In 1989, after having worked with local government authorities in the development of numerous social housing projects, Buron made its initial investment in the senior housing industry with the acquisition of a 93-bed licensed care facility located in Prince George, British Columbia. Today, Buron Healthcare operates two publicly subsidized residential care homes in Penticton and Prince George.

Access to residential care is for adults with complex health care needs requiring 24-hour professional care. For more information on accessing residential care, please contact your local health authority–links are included below.

Originally built as a hospital in 1950, Buron purchased this residential care home in 1989. In an ongoing effort to improve the living environment at Simon Fraser Lodge, the company remodeled and completely rebuilt much of the facility through a series of construction improvement projects. An addition of 23 special care beds was completed in 1993, for the care of persons with acute mental disabilities including brain injuries, Alzheimer’s and other related dementias. Additional wings of the building were updated and renovated in the early 2000’s and in 2010 the original hospital wing was torn down to make way for a brand new building wing. The new two-story space added activity areas and 37 licensed beds, and updated spa rooms. Simon Fraser Lodge currently houses and cares for 130 Prince George seniors in this beautiful northern city. Simon Fraser Lodge received  “Accreditated with Exemplary Standing” with Accreditation Canada 2019-2023.

In 1992, Buron Healthcare acquired an existing 70-bed licensed residential care facility in Penticton, British Columbia. Plans to tear down the aged facility and build a brand new state-of-the-art care home came to fruition in 2006. Then in 2010, Interior Health awarded Buron additional licensed beds and a new wing was added to the building. This beautiful care home sits atop Haven Hill road with commanding views of this gorgeous lakeside town. Haven Hill today houses 148 publicly subsidized residential care beds and offers four private pay beds for Penticton’s seniors. Haven Hill remains Accreditated with CARF Canada since 2020 and received no recommendations from surveyors when re-surveyed in January 2023.
