In 1994, the company incorporated a U.S. subsidiary, Buron, Inc., for the purpose of entering the assisted living market. After a lengthy period of studying the industry and consulting with various experts, Buron’s president, Howard Addison, came away with a clear vision of what senior living should and should not be. He had no desire to build another “old folks home.” Even the concept of a “facility” was too clinical for what he envisioned, which was a homelike community of engaged seniors and compassionate caregivers. A place where all residents, no matter what their age or ailment, would live a happy and fulfilling life. Where families would visit. Pets would be welcome. And friends would be made. It would be a place to live, and live well.

Today, Highgate Senior Living is a recognized thought leader and innovator in an industry that has enjoyed substantial growth over the past twenty-plus years. Specializing in serving those with high care needs including complex medical issues and severe cognitive impairment, the Highgate team of clinical professionals and highly-trained caregiving staff can handle what many other communities cannot. It is rare to find the level of devotion and energy that every Highgate team member brings to helping residents live each day to the fullest. This passion for improving the lives of seniors contributes immeasurably to the company’s ongoing growth and success.

Expanding and looking toward the future

Buron Inc. currently operates eight Highgate Senior Living assisted living and memory care communities in Washington, Montana and Arizona.  A ninth community is opening soon in Temecula, California.  Another in Las Vegas, Nevada is currently in development.  And there are plans in place for continued expansion.
