Howard Addison is a recognized business leader and entrepreneur. As founder of the Buron Group of Companies, he has developed numerous housing projects in both Canada and the U.S. After establishing the Buron Group in Canada and completing over 2,000 residential dwelling units, he spearheaded the expansion and re-focus of the business from development/construction to investment in and management of healthcare residences. He then further expanded the company by entering the assisted living industry in the United States, where he currently oversees the operation of eight senior living communities, with several more in development. The continued growth and success of Buron developments since 1981 attest to Mr. Addison’s business acumen and management skills in the housing construction and assisted living industry.

Julia Glover is the CEO for Buron Healthcare. Julia Glover joined Buron Healthcare in January 2017 as Vice President of Operations.  After four years of working with Buron, Julia was moved into the CEO role. Julia has served on BCCPA Board of Directors as well as on the SafeCareBC Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). Prior to joining Buron, Julia worked with other seniors care providers in various leadership roles including General Manager and Regional Manager. Julia has been working with seniors for over 40 years and brings a wealth of experience to Buron. She is a Registered Nurse and also has her Canadian Nurses Association Certification in Gerontology. In 2002, Julia returned to university and in 2004 graduated with her Master’s in Business Administration (Executive Management).   Early in Julia’s career, she gained experience working as a front-line staff member in various nursing roles, eventually, moving into leadership roles. Julia’s depth of experience provides her with great knowledge and understanding of seniors care. Julia believes strongly in resident centred care and collaboration with residents, families and staff.

Michele Thomson joined Buron Healthcare in January 2020 as Vice President of Operations.

Prior to joining the Buron family, Michele has gained experience and expertise in a variety of practice settings including ICU, acute care, community nursing, and in clinical workforce planning, change management and leadership.

Michele is a Registered Nurse who earned her RN designation in 1994 and Gerontological Nursing Certification in 2010. Since 2006, Michele has been employed by seniors’ care providers as a General Manager. She currently sits on the SafeCareBC Board, is a member of  their Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), is a facilitator for SafeCareBC as well as the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC). She has a strong commitment to supporting employees to provide safe and person-centred care. Michele’s care philosophy is assisting residents to maintain their individuality, independence and to have a meaningful quality of life.

Carla Mauro, CPA-CA, is the Vice-President of Finance for the Buron Group. Carla joined Buron in 2021 as Vice President Finance, enthusiastic about joining a team focused on residential and health care solutions for the elderly.Her past experience in similar positions in the video gaming and non-profit sectors brings a fresh perspective to Buron’s decentralized financial reporting, audit and tax compliance.
